Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry. Pediatric dentists provide primary care to children such as regular check-ups and preventive visits. Because of our advanced training, pediatric dentists are THE experts in diagnosing and treating your child's dental problems. Dental problems of children differ in many ways from the dental problems of adults. This advanced training and education is specific to children and adolescents including their physical, emotional and psychological development. Pediatric dentists have 2 to 3 years of advanced, specialty training (residency training) which is obtained after they have become family or general dentists. As well, our advanced training and education has prepared us well to provide specialty oral care including all forms of sedation services to manage anxiety and significant hospital training and experience for those infants, children and adolescents with special health needs who require care in hospital.
